Pedagogical directors

The two pedagogical directors at the Pasteur/Cnam School are Jean de Kervasdoué, professor and chair of the Department of Economics and Management of Health Care Systems at the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Cnam), and Arnaud Fontanet, director of the Institut Pasteur School of Infectiology.

Jean de KERVASDOUE

Jean de Kervasdoué is a professor and the chair of the Department Economics and Management of Health Care Systems at the French National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Cnam).

Previously, Prof. de Kervasdoué has acted as the director of Hospitals at the Ministry of Health.

He has also served as CEO of SANESCO, head of economic research at Assistance Public - Hôpitaux de Paris, and research director rat the Ecole Polytechnique.

Arnaud FONTANET

A former resident in the Paris hospital system, a medical doctor (University of Paris V) and doctor of public health (Harvard University), Arnaud Fontanet specializes in the epidemiology of infectious and tropical diseases.

Since January 2002, he has directed the Unit on the Epidemiology of Emerging Diseases at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

Arnaud Fontanet is also the director of Institut Pasteur School of Infectiology.

Gilbert SAPORTA

Professor at the Chair of Applied Statistics at the Cnam, Gilber Saporta, an engineer at the Ecole Central, defended a doctoral thesis and a « Doctorat d'Etat » in statistics at the University of Paris VI. His areas of specialization include the analysis of multi-dimensional data, particularly functional data. He has also developed methods of analysis for qualitative data and has worked on distributions of eigenvalues in factorial analyses. His work has been published in 40 scholarly articles and 180 oral communications at conferences and seminars. He has directed 16 doctoral dissertations. Formerly the president of the French Statistical Society, he is currently president of the International Association for Statistical Computing and vice president of the International Statistical Institute

William DAB

Professor in the Department of Hygiene and Security of the Cnam, William Dab's work spans hospital medicine and public health, with a specialization in the evaluation of health risks linked to the professional and industrial environment. Quantitative methods of evaluating risk are at the heart of his work, which thus far have been applied to  the influenza and AIDS epidemics, atmospheric pollution, low-frequency electromagnetic fields, biological agents (flu, cholera, Legionella, amoebas), and health-related aspects of impact studies. Named to the French General Direction of Health during the heat wave crisis, he developed a method of planning responses to emergency situations (SARS, avian flu, smallpox, extreme climatic events, electrical blackouts, and floods).
